Michelle Friedberg

MS, NP-C, GNP-BC
SMART- Certified Healthcare Practitioner

With over two and a half decades of healthcare experience as a nursing professional, Michelle has worked  in a variety of healthcare settings across the country. Theses settings include solid organ transplant, cardiac care, neurological intensive care, and primary care. She has also received her certification to teach the evidence-based SMART (Stress Management Resiliency Training) program through the Benson Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General where she has been teaching this to individuals in her community through her company, Mindful HEART, LLC. 

 

Throughout her career, Michelle has earned a reputation as an innovative, creative, compassionate, dedicated and highly skilled advanced practice nurse.  After becoming a SMART-Certified Health Care Practitioner, Michelle began teaching the SMART program to individuals in the community who were looking for ways to improve their overall health and well-being. As her knowledge on the benefits continued to broaden, she began to slowly implement mind body medicine into her primary care practice, and she was able to see almost immediately the benefits these tools and strategies had with her patients. Due to time constraints, she was not always able to implement these teachings into her practice. This led to her decision to open her own concierge medicine practice where mind body medicine is an integral part of each patients care plan that coincides with the current prevention, healing, recovery plans and protocols already in place in the current health system.

 

Michelle also continues to offer the class to individuals that share a common entity where stress is exacerbated and health and wellness  is a necessity such as in the corporate setting, school setting, caregivers of children with disabilities/elderly family members, individuals receiving or have received treatment for cancer and to anyone else who wants to improve their overall health and well-being. 

I attended the stress management and resiliency training program taught by Michelle Friedberg. We learned about how stress affects us physically and emotionally.  With that foundation, we then learned techniques to change our response to stress.  Each week we were taught how to meditate and how to incorporate meditation into our daily lives.  Meditation is fundamental in achieving stress management. We were able to explore our stressors and discover how we each could become more resilient in a safe and supportive environment.  I was able to identify how I personally could approach situations differently in order to reduce my stress response.  Each participant had different triggers and Michelle was excellent at helping us individually even though our needs varied.  From the first class to the last class I learned a lot about my own response to stress and how to control it. Using the techniques Michelle taught us, I experienced an improvement in my sleep, eating habits, fitness routine and had a huge reduction in my overall stress level.  I highly recommend this class!
